Directions
From San Francisco Bay Area - Take I-80 East to Sacramento.
From Southern or Northern California - Take I-5 or CA-99 to Sacramento.
Through Sacramento, follow signs for US 50 to South Lake Tahoe.
Continue on US 50 through Placerville and the American River Canyon. Your Last major landmark will be the town of Strawberry. From Strawberry, continue another 3 miles and turn left onto Sierra Pines Road. Proceed 1/2 mile where you'll find the house on the right at the end of the road

Locals Travel Tips:
In summer, when traffic is backing up over Echo Summit, you can take Johnson Pass Road to cut over top of summit. Do not take this route once the snows have started as it is very icey or snow blocked through May. This road is not for the faint of heart or inexperienced driver. It is narrow - but you can't beat the view!!!
If traffic is backing up on US 50 as you are getting into Meyers, take the second left just after you come off of the summit grade onto North Upper Truckee Blvd. (first left is Chiapa - dead ends). This will wind through residential areas and bring you out onto Lake Tahoe Blvd. at the "Y".
If you want to bypass downtown traffic and go directly to the casino area, as you go through Meyers, turn right at the stoplight onto "Pioneer Trail." This will take you to Lake Tahoe Blvd. just before the casinos and thus avoid the heavy traffic.
If you are going to Nevada and want to see beautiful countryside, take US 50 over Echo Summit, turn right onto California Highway 89 in Meyers which takes you to Luther Pass and on into Hope Valley (most gorgeous place on earth!) Turn left on Hwy 88 and follow it into Minden & Carson City.
